A penny for your thoughts....

Except I am PRETTY sure you would not want the penny I gave you. Let me explain...

I go to change Caleb's diaper last week and guess what I found?!?! Yep, a penny. Right in the middle of his "shoo shoo" (as we call it). Oh yeah. Mom of the year for me. When did he eat this, you ask. I HAVE NO CLUE!! I thought back over the few days prior and the only time I could think it may have happened was about two days before. Caleb was with me in our room playing - pulling up on anything he could find, crawling all around - while I was getting dressed. Then, he started coughing. Of course, I immediately looked down at him and he spit up some (which is a little odd because he hadn't just eaten and he never spits up anymore) but he seemed to get a hold of himself and go right back to playing. He never even cried or anything. So, I finished getting ready. And then two days later...well, you read the beginning. When Chad got home, which was about 10 minutes after I discovered this, I took the diaper to him and told him I knew how we were going to strike it rich. I opened the diaper and said, "Look!!! Our child poops pennies!!!" We did have a good laugh over it, but boy did I feel like a poopy mom (literally!)

Have you ever done something that made you feel like an awful mom??? PLEASE share your story and let me know I'm not the only one!!!!

girl you aren't the only one. back before we discovered ethan could roll over, we let him nap on our bed. he had been napping for a while so chris got in the shower while i came to check my email. about 15 minutes later i hear a loud thud followed by a blood curdling cry. immediately i knew he had rolled off the bed! i ran into the bedroom to find him flat out on his back screaming at the top of his lungs. Needless to say, I felt like the most horrible, neglegant mother in the world!

First of all, Carrie, that story is hilarious, even though you feel bad right now! You'll laugh about it later! I've probably done so many bad things, that I couldn't name them all, but the two that I can think of is when MacKenzie was about 12 months old I had her on the changing table to obviously change her. I hadn't picked out her clothes for the day, so I just sent to the closet really fast to get something for her to wear, and then I hear the thud! She had fallen off the changing table. She started crying, I started crying, it was awful. Then just a few months ago, Mason was sitting at the kitchen table. He sits in a booster seat, but we never strap him in. Well, I walk upstairs to grab something, and then I hear the thud and screaming. I obviously didn't learn my lesson the first time!

It's about time that kid started "paying off" for you. I have to say it's a very funny story. Don't worry about the guilt. I think it fades into laughter to be used when you run across a woman who just thinks she has ruined her chance at Mother of the Year. My story, well, which one do you want to hear? Do you want to hear the one where I gashed his finger trying to clip his nails when he was two months old and put a bandaid on it only to find it in his mouth later? Or maybe you want to hear how I wacked his head, not once but twice on the doorway - in the same day!? We all have those moments. I hope you "fished" out the penny. It must go in his baby book. Love to all!
